Mariners' is most widely known from a reference in the popular song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald." The song tells of the 1975 sinking of an iron ore freighter in Lake Superior with loss of all 29 men. After more than 150 years, Mariners' Church continues to minister to the Great Lakes seamen as a house of prayer for all people.
