The Vogue Cocktail Book

This book from the 1980s is by a British writer, as are several of the others. It has many referrences to American usages and includes both "classic" and "modern" versions of many of the drinks. Typical of the 1980s is the use of brand names, the tendency for dry drinks to become extremely dry, as in this martini recipe.

Dry Martini
2 to 3 oz. London dry gin
1 or 2 drops Noilly Pr, Chambèry, or Lillet dry vermouth

"There is a modern tendency to drink this poured over ice ('on the rocks') with lemon or olive. (p. 25).
